Isabella loves sharing her books with kids of all ages!

Whether in a large auditorium, an intimate classroom, a library, or a bookstore, she is excited to connect with readers!

What to Expect

Isabella’s workshops and presentations are highly interactive. In a 45-minute workshop including Q&A. Isabella will do a reading of one of her books and tailor the rest of the presentation to suit the audience.

Below are some examples:

For K-2nd grade:

  • A reading of Jia Has a Dog Problem. Isabella will talk about how normal it is to have irrational fears and that we each have the strength to be brave; share a few tips on how to properly and safely say hi to an unfamiliar dog; and end with a drawing demo, where she will show how fears can alter our perception of others, preventing us from living a full life or forming new beautiful friendships.

  • A reading of Nunu and the Sea. Isabella will share symbolism from the book, how big emotions are as natural as storms at sea, invite the audience to create a drawing with her, and end by leading a breathing and movement exercise to conjure up a "storm" and help us regulate ourselves.

  • A reading of No Fuzzball! Or No Snowball!, Isabella will show pictures of her inspirations behind the characters, talk about emotions and body language in cats, then end with a drawing demo – asking the audience to inspire her with prompts and create an illustration together!

For 3rd grade - 5th grade:

  •  A reading of Nunu and the Sea. Isabella will share inspiration for her book and her intention in conveying the journey of big emotions, invaluable lessons learned from the collaboration process with her editor, the symbolism within the book, process art, and how creative expression can be a way of healing and processing emotions. Isabella will end by leading a breathing and movement exercise to conjure up a "storm" and help us regulate ourselves.

  • A reading of No Fuzzball! Or No Snowball!, Isabella will show how she created her books, starting from a doodle in her sketchbook all the way to publication. She’ll show behind-the-scenes photos/videos of her artwork and talk about the writing and illustrating process. She will end with a drawing demo of Fuzzball! And show how to draw various facial expressions for different emotions.

Rates

  • $250 for a single presentation via Zoom/Skype

  • $300 for a single presentation plus travel expenses in San Francisco / Bay Area

  • $850 per day plus travel expenses (up to 3 groups/presentations)

  • Isabella also offers a limited number of short Free Zoom/Skype visits each year.
